High school student assessments

The Mississippi graduation is exam is called the Student Assessment Testing Program (SATP) and contains algebra, biology, U.S. history and English portions. Typically ninth-graders take the algebra and biology tests, tenth-graders take the English test with a writing assessment and 11th-graders take the history test. However, many eighth-graders take the algebra tests so middle schools are included in SATP results. Last year the writing portion of the SATP was eliminated for students taking English II for the first time, but students enrolled in that class previously had to pass it to graduate..
